Founder/Co-Executive Director

Nick Magoteaux has dedicated nearly his entire adult life to public safety. A former firefighter, corrections officer, and 911 dispatcher, Nick continues to serve the fire service as a Customer Field Support representative with Fire Safety Services of Ohio. He is also the founder, Co-Executive Director, and President of the Board for Brothers Helping Brothers, a nonprofit committed to equipping small and rural fire departments with the tools and support they need to save lives.

An impassioned and results-driven leader, Nick is known for his relentless commitment to elevating the fire service on local, state, and national levels. His gift for building strong partnerships has turned a personal mission into a thriving nonprofit that has awarded multiple grants and helped fire departments across the country acquire lifesaving equipment. As part of a dynamic business development team, Nick leads with honesty, transparency, and a mission-focused mindset that earns trust wherever he goes.

Nick and longtime collaborator Jim Burneka Jr. are also the brains and brawn behind the Firefighter Health and Wellness Conference, held annually in Beavercreek, Ohio. Now in its eighth year, the 2025 conference (October 15–17) continues its tradition of delivering a high-impact lineup of speakers covering the full spectrum of firefighter wellness—from mental health and sleep hygiene to cancer prevention and tactical rehab.

Under Nick’s leadership, Brothers Helping Brothers became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in July 2014. The organization not only provides grants but also researches critical equipment shortages in the fire and EMS service to raise awareness and advocate for change.

Nick also co-hosts the I Can’t Believe They Gave Us a Show podcast with Jim Burneka Jr.—a health and wellness show that brings candid conversations with fire service leaders and frontline changemakers to the mic.
